The Junin Province borders the Tarma Province to the South, Yauli to the West, Pasco to the North, and Oxapampa to the East.
The
Junin Plateau is perched at 14,000 ft. above sea level and roughly 250
km East of Lima. Junin is culturally rich, hosting the Qero, Incas, and
Quechua throughout time. On the Plateau, you will find the majestic
Lake Junín, made famous by the historical events that happened there.
Lake Junin is where the Mantaro and Ulcumayo Rivers are born.
They are a constant source of glacier water working to quench the
Amazon below. The high
location of the province forms the Nudo de
Pasco, the meeting point of three branches of the central Andes
mountains
